The Day the Music Died <\/a>by Marina Curry.\u00a0 Explores the sources and background history behind Don McLean’s song, “The Day the Music Died.”<\/p>\n

Feminism in Music, 1964-1974<\/a> by Haley Batchelor.\u00a0 This site examines the songs by women or women’s groups that hit number 1 between 1964 and 1974.\u00a0 It analyzes the lyrics and tries to put them in context with what was occurring in the feminist movement at the time. Muscle Shoals<\/a> by Audrey Skaggs.\u00a0 Attempts\u00a0 to understand the lasting effect Muscle Shoals and Fame Studios ended up having on the artists who worked with the studio.<\/p>\n

Southern Rock Across America<\/a> by Charlie Morgan.\u00a0 This project compares the gig locations of the Allman Brothers Band the Lynyrd Skynyrd during their initial years to see how Southern Rock spread across the nation during the 1970s.<\/p>\n

Techno Music: The Technology of Rock N’ Roll<\/a> by Maxine Donnelly.\u00a0 This site examines the influences of technology on popular music from the phonograph to the MP3.<\/p>\n

U2<\/a> by Madison Locke, Shelby Smith, Avery Archer, Tedric Palmer..\u00a0 Examines how how U2’s lyrics have changed over time.<\/p>\n

We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel<\/a> by Tessa Howard.\u00a0 This project breaks down the content of\u00a0the song “We Didn’t Start\u00a0the Fire” into categories to make the information more accessible.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Young Deaths of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductees<\/a> by Anna Ratliff, Haley Caulkins, Meg Ratliff, and Rachel Renaud.\u00a0 This project examines the causes of death and the year inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame of approximately 70 musicians in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that died at age 45 or younger.
