This project was created at the request of Dr. Rebecca Logan. Her junior nursing students were struggling with the concept of Fluid Tonicity and the impact of different IV fluids on the body. We divided this project into three main sections. The first section reemphasizes the concepts of isotonic, hypertonic, and hypotonic. The second section, provides examples and activities that reinforce the information covered in class on how different IV fluids impact the body. The third section is built around case studies where students apply their knowledge in a real-life situation as they work to understand their patient’s health issues.
