About Berry Model UN

If you are interested in learning more about pressing global issues and in meeting many new and interesting people, then Berry College Model UN (BCMUN) might be for you. We invite you to read on and to contact us for more information.

What’s BCMUN all about?

BCMUN is offered as a one-credit course and it functions as a student organization. Participants prepare to take on the role of United Nations Delegate in regional, national, and even international Model United Nations conferences. As delegates, students research their countries’ positions on pressing global issues. At conference, each student adopts his or her country’s positions and negotiates with other delegates to find mutually acceptable diplomatic solutions to their common problems.

BCMUN regularly participates in the Southern Regional Model United Nations (SRMUN) and in the National Model United Nations (NMUN). We participated in the Harvard World Model UN in 2007 (in Geneva) and in 2009 (The Hague). We have represented a wide range of countries and we are extremely competitive at the regional level. Some of our club members also have attended a simulation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. This is a much smaller conference in which all students participate in crisis simulation and negotiate how the alliance will respond to common threats to regional and national security.

Who May Participate in BCMUN?

Anyone with an interest in global issues and the United Nations is invited to join. Many BCMUN participants are Government and International Studies majors, but you’ll also find students coming from Business, Communications, Economics, History, and many other fields.
