The film project originated as documentation of a Stacie Marshall’s return to her family farm in Chattooga County, Georgia, but became more serious when she found records documenting her family’s slaveholding legacy.
She engaged in reconciliatory conversations with her neighbors, especially Betty and Melvin Mosley, who served as mentors through the process, and collaborated on genealogical exploration that resulted in surprising, emotional discoveries.
