Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) is a perennial and a member of the daisy family (Asteraceae). The plant is very heat and drought resistant and has a salty flavor.
Purple Coneflower is most notably used by the Yuchi tribe. Yuchi tribal elders are known for using pale purple coneflower as a means of coping with a toothache. The plant also has anti-inflammatory properties which not only helps toothaches, but also the common cold, bronchitis, and upper respiratory infections as it helps decrease the symptoms and shorten the length of the illness.
