Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta) are a part of the Asteraceae family, and they are closely related to echinacea. They were important especially to the Menominee and Potawatomi tribes as they used the plant as diuretics and as spring greens when cooking.
Black-Eyed Susans are known to contain the same compounds that assist in cough remedies and respiratory herbs. The most commonly known usage throughout times is for treating colds, as well as preventing colds. They are a useful plant for snake bites, and the roots can be turned into eardrops.
